Property and land health checks for new buyers in Portugal
If you’re considering purchasing a property in Portugal, you need to make sure it is in the right condition. Unforeseen problems could cost you a lot of money later, or even prevent you from doing construction work on your home.
In addition, you need to make sure that local planning laws will allow you to carry out renovations. Regulations will vary depending on the zoning of your land, and can restrict how far your property’s foot print can be extended.

We offer a health check of your property to determine whether your home is legally and physically in the right condition to buy.
We will:
- Examine the general structure of the building, including walls, roof and ceilings.
- Check for damp problems and subsidence.
- Assess the condition of electrics and plumbing.
- Determine whether there will be any legal or practical restrictions that will prevent you from carrying out major rebuilding and extension works.
All building health checks are carried out by our in-house ‘ Technico of Civil Construction ‘ ( a position similar to an Engineer ), who has 19 years of experience with commercial and domestic construction.
We do charge for health checks, but will give you a substantial discount if you do end up using us for renovation work. Health checks are available for locations in the Silver Coast and Central Portugal.
